About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and highly respected tool manufacturer and distributor within the cutting tool industry. This role forms part of a rapidly growing team of technically focused engineers who work closely with manufacturers to deliver high-performance, value-adding solutions. While previous sales experience is advantageous, it is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

As part of our external sales team, you will actively promote Sutton Tools as both a trusted brand and a supplier of choice. The role is customer-focused, combining technical understanding with relationship building to develop tailored solutions that meet manufacturing challenges. Through collaboration with the wider team, you will play a key role in achieving both individual and collective sales targets while contributing to the continued growth and success of the business.

Location
Based in the Northeast region. Residing in the Yorkshire area would be desirable, however surrounding areas would be considered.

About You
The ideal candidate will have technical experience in conventional and CNC machining processes, including but not limited to, turning, milling, drilling, and tapping. Along with previous sales experience but it is not essential. You will bring with you a good knowledge of CNC programming and a high level of competency using Microsoft Office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Using a variety of soft skills to listen to and assess customers’ tooling requirements, with a view to ensuring exceptional customer service at all times and selling a solution.
  • Provide clients with commercially focused, practical, and technically sound advice on their tooling requirements and highlight the ways in which our products can enhance their manufacturing processes.
  • Actively seek to increase our client database with a view to increasing sales figures both in volume and gross profit.
  • Updating our CRM system with call logs and customer information
  • Actively seek and identify ways in which to promote and ultimately make sales of ancillary products, services, and systems ( e.g. vend and tool management systems, shrink/ balancing machines)
  • Liaison with the internal support team to address any client issues or concerns.
  • Operate within the company procedures and policies to ensure compliance with the quality standards, and health and safety requirements. 
    • Restocking of vending machines.
  • Undertake training as required to ensure the upkeep of your own professional development; to expand your knowledge both within your field but also of the company (e.g. product knowledge)
  • All other duties as reasonably required to support the wider objective of the role.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Tool Cutter Grinder to join our team.

Role Overview
As a CNC Tool Cutter Grinder, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming CNC grinding machines to manufacture and regrind a wide range of precision cutting tools, ensuring high levels of accuracy and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC tool and cutter grinding machines (Anca or similar)
  • Program machines using manufacturer software (iGrind or similar)
  • Manufacture and regrind drills, end mills, reamers, form tools, and special cutting tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings and tooling specifications
  • Conduct in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, optical measuring systems)
  • Maintain quality standards in line with company procedures
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure a safe working environment
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet production targets

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CNC Tool Cutter Grinder
  • Strong knowledge of carbide and HSS cutting tools
  • Experience with 5-axis CNC grinding machines preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and reliable with a positive work attitude

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Anca or similar CNC tool grinders
  • Knowledge of tool design and geometry
  • Experience in a precision engineering or aerospace environment
